Bonecrushers: Glam Obscurities Vol. 1 – Glitter, Street Rock & Proto-Punk, 1972–1976

 

  Antes de que el punk tuviera un nombre y cuando el hard rock todavía buscaba su identidad, el glam ya estaba ensuciándose las botas. Bajo el maquillaje, las plataformas y el brillo, muchas bandas empezaban a endurecer el sonido, acelerar el pulso y llevar el rock hacia un territorio mucho más crudo y peligroso.

  Lejos de los grandes nombres del género, este primer volumen reúne una colección de singles olvidados donde el glam se mezcla con el rock callejero, el hard rock, el pub rock y los primeros destellos del proto-punk. Guitarras afiladas, estribillos pegadizos, actitud desafiante y una energía que anticipaba la explosión que estaba a punto de cambiarlo todo.

  Un viaje por ese instante irrepetible en el que el glitter todavía brillaba, pero ya empezaba a oler a gasolina, cuero y amplificadores al rojo vivo.

Born In The Garage Vol.6 Acid Fuzz & Heavy Dreams (1967–1970)

 

  By the late sixties, something was beginning to change. The beat and garage sounds that had dominated the first half of the decade were evolving into something louder, heavier and far more psychedelic. Amplifiers grew bigger, fuzz became thicker, and songs ventured into increasingly uncharted territory.

  Acid Fuzz & Heavy Dreams captures that moment of transformation. It was a fascinating period when garage punk, acid psychedelia, embryonic hard rock and the first glimmers of proto-heavy all coexisted in the same swirling musical landscape. There were no fixed rules yet, and that was precisely what made the era so exciting.

  Throughout this session you'll encounter bands stretching the boundaries of traditional garage into darker, heavier and more electrified territory. Street-level psychedelic anthems like "Plastic People," lysergic excursions such as "Flying Thru The Sky" and "Psychedelic Pill," walls of blistering fuzz and records that already hint at the crushing power soon to be unleashed by bands like Blue Cheer, MC5, The Stooges and Black Sabbath.

  Cult favourites including SRC, The Amboy Dukes, The Litter, Josephus and Damnation of Adam Blessing appear alongside far more obscure groups that left behind little more than a handful of recordings before fading into obscurity. Yet they all shared the same ambition: to push rock music towards something louder, freer and less predictable.

  The result is a collection of overdriven guitars, voices drifting somewhere between reality and hallucination, crushing riffs, hypnotic organs and performances charged with raw electricity. Music born in basements, small recording studios and smoke-filled clubs where sheer volume was becoming an artistic statement in its own right.

  Born In The Garage Vol. 6 documents one of the most exhilarating moments in rock's evolution.

  Con este tercer volumen llegamos al final de nuestro recorrido por la obra de Vincent "Vinnie" Bell, uno de los guitarristas de estudio más influyentes y, al mismo tiempo, más desconocidos de la música popular estadounidense.

  A lo largo de estas tres recopilaciones hemos podido comprobar cómo su inconfundible sonido dejó huella en decenas de grabaciones de los años sesenta y primeros setenta, desde grandes éxitos comerciales hasta pequeños singles hoy prácticamente olvidados. Aunque en algunas canciones su presencia es más discreta, en la mayoría resulta fácil reconocer ese estilo limpio, elegante y profundamente personal que hizo de Vinnie Bell un músico tan solicitado en los estudios de grabación.

  Esta última entrega se mueve principalmente por terrenos pop, sin renunciar a algunos de los instrumentales que mejor muestran la sensibilidad y el talento de un guitarrista capaz de enriquecer cualquier canción sin necesidad de acaparar el protagonismo.

  Un merecido homenaje a uno de esos músicos cuyo nombre rara vez aparece en la portada de los discos, pero cuyo sonido forma parte de la banda sonora de toda una época.
