'66 BREAKOUT! - A Shot Of 60's High Energy Vol.2

The needle drops back onto the record.

  And the ride continues.

The second volume of '66 BREAKOUT! stays true to the spirit of the series, rescuing some of the most vibrant, electrifying and infectious recordings of the sixties, when garage, beat, freakbeat and psychedelia were pushing rock 'n' roll into ever wilder territory.

Twenty-four tracks from the United States, Britain, the Netherlands, Peru and Argentina, where essential names such as Count Five, The Golden Earrings, The Jay-Jays, The Lollipop Shoppe and David John & The Mood sit alongside a wealth of bands that left behind little more than one or two singles before disappearing. Together, they capture all the urgency, excitement and imagination of an unforgettable era.

Fuzz-drenched guitars, beat harmonies, hypnotic organs, psychedelic melodies and powerhouse riffs follow one another across an hour with no room for filler. From raw garage to the earliest hints of hard rock and psychedelia, every track is a reminder that the sixties were about far more than the handful of classics everyone already knows.

Twenty-four sonic explosions rescued from the underground of rock 'n' roll.

  Because before there were genres...

there were simply musicians turning up their amplifiers and pushing them as far as they would go.

Sesiones Marcianas #33 INSTROMANIA! 2

No words are needed when the guitars do all the talking.

During the fifties and sixties, instrumental records enjoyed a genuine golden age. Surf, rhythm & blues, rock 'n' roll, jazz, exotica, twist and garage all found a common language where unforgettable riffs, Hammond organs, blazing saxophones, thunderous drums and guitars drenched in reverb and fuzz took centre stage.

INSTROMANIA! 2 brings together twenty-eight instrumental gems where imagination takes the place of lyrics. From pioneers such as Link Wray, Bill Doggett, The Gamblers, Davie Allan & The Arrows and The Hollywood Persuaders to a wonderful collection of obscurities by The Frantics, The Invaders, The Waikikis, The Moontrekkers, Les Guitares du Diable, Hal Blaine and Takeshi Terauchi, this session explores some of the most exciting corners of instrumental rock.

Along the way you'll encounter frantic rhythms, echo-laden guitars, tribal drums, space-age sounds, Eastern melodies, forgotten dance crazes and the occasional detour into surf, spy jazz and exotica. It's a reminder that, long before synthesizers arrived, musicians were already turning their instruments into storytellers.

  Twenty-eight tracks.

  Twenty-eight stories.

  Not a single word required.

Because when the groove is good enough...

the best singer is a red-hot guitar.
