Sesiones Marcianas #33 INSTROMANIA! 2

No words are needed when the guitars do all the talking.

During the fifties and sixties, instrumental records enjoyed a genuine golden age. Surf, rhythm & blues, rock 'n' roll, jazz, exotica, twist and garage all found a common language where unforgettable riffs, Hammond organs, blazing saxophones, thunderous drums and guitars drenched in reverb and fuzz took centre stage.

INSTROMANIA! 2 brings together twenty-eight instrumental gems where imagination takes the place of lyrics. From pioneers such as Link Wray, Bill Doggett, The Gamblers, Davie Allan & The Arrows and The Hollywood Persuaders to a wonderful collection of obscurities by The Frantics, The Invaders, The Waikikis, The Moontrekkers, Les Guitares du Diable, Hal Blaine and Takeshi Terauchi, this session explores some of the most exciting corners of instrumental rock.

Along the way you'll encounter frantic rhythms, echo-laden guitars, tribal drums, space-age sounds, Eastern melodies, forgotten dance crazes and the occasional detour into surf, spy jazz and exotica. It's a reminder that, long before synthesizers arrived, musicians were already turning their instruments into storytellers.

  Twenty-eight tracks.

  Twenty-eight stories.

  Not a single word required.

Because when the groove is good enough...

the best singer is a red-hot guitar.
