  Time to crank the amplifiers back up. '66 BREAKOUT! returns with another blast of high-voltage garage, fuzz and psychedelic rock, featuring bands that never became household names but left behind enough raw energy to inspire the generation that would eventually ignite the punk explosion of the late seventies.

  As usual, most of these groups burned brightly for only a brief moment. Some enjoyed modest regional success, while others vanished after releasing just a single 45. What they all shared was an uncompromising attitude: razor-sharp guitars, snarling vocals and a level of intensity that still feels electrifying more than half a century later.

  The cover pays tribute to The Monks, using the back sleeve of their legendary debut single "Complication", one of the defining records of European garage rock and a perfect symbol of the spirit behind this compilation. Alongside them you'll find hidden gems from The Heard, Twentieth Century Zoo, The Rationals, Thor's Hammer, The Atlantics, We The People, The Distortions, Giant Crab, and many more.

  Some tracks are packed with enough fuzz to shake the walls, others hit with pure garage-rock aggression, while a few slower moments provide just enough breathing space before the next sonic assault. Twenty-two cuts that capture that magical moment when garage rock stopped looking back to rock 'n' roll and began pointing straight toward something louder, heavier and far more dangerous.
