Born In The Garage Vol. 15 KIM FOWLEY: Strangers From The Sky (The Wild World of Kim Fowley '62-'81)

Few people fit the world of Born In The Garage better than Kim Fowley. Producer, songwriter, singer, talent scout, manager, promoter, actor, writer, professional provocateur and, to many, one of the greatest catalysts in the history of rock'n'roll. An impossible figure to classify, he spent more than two decades leaving his mark on some of the strangest corners of popular music.

Equally at home in rock'n'roll, garage, psychedelia, bubblegum, glam, proto-punk and new wave, Fowley never seemed interested in following trends. He preferred to get there first... or ignore them altogether. His career is packed with eccentric records, brilliant ideas, outrageous concepts and songs that, even today, remain unlike anything else in rock music.

This session traces almost twenty years of that extraordinary career. From his wildest early sixties experiments to his productions of the eighties, via garage-psychedelia classics such as The Trip and Strangers From The Sky, pop oddities, bizarre radio commercials, bubblegum explosions and recordings where humour, irony and provocation always went hand in hand.

Fowley was also a pivotal figure behind the scenes. He discovered artists, produced countless recordings and ultimately helped shape one of punk rock's most influential bands: The Runaways. This session, however, focuses on his most personal side, that of a musician who turned every record into a laboratory of ideas where absolutely anything could happen.

Loved by some and loathed by others, Fowley never sought approval. His universe was populated by eccentric characters, science fiction, pop culture, absurd humour, faded glamour and a seemingly inexhaustible imagination. That's precisely why he remains one of the great outsiders of American rock.

Born In The Garage Vol. 15 is a journey across the chaotic planet of Kim Fowley.

A place where rules never existed...

and where the strangest idea was almost always the best one.
